WXPN Welcomes Satan and Adam
Satan and Adam—aka Sterling Magee and Adam Gussow—joined forces on the streets of Harlem in 1986, where they honed a raw, high-energy mix of blues, funk, and soul. After their debut album, Harlem Blues, was released in 1991, they went on to become one of New York’s best-known contemporary blues acts, along with Shemekia Copeland, Popa Chubby, and The Holmes Brothers. Health challenges forced Magee to retire from active touring in 1998, but now the dynamic duo (with Dave Laycock on drums) is back for their first Philadelphia appearance in more than a decade. Get ready for deep blues grooves and soaring harmonica!
Opening for Satan and Adam is another legend of contemporary street-blues, Charlie Sayles on harmonica
