Klezmer (a.k.a. Jewish party music) is a 500 year old tradition that has enjoyed ongoing crossovers with it's neighbors - originally Balkan, Greek, and Gypsy music. This seven member ensemble, made up of some of Philadelphia's best-known jazz, funk and Dixieland musicians, keeps the tradition evolving and rocking. Proving that everyone can be uplifted and have a whole lot of fun at the same time, Klingon Klez concerts typically produce mass dancing in the aisles and the occasional departure into orbit. Repertoire features traditional and innovative klezmer combined with turn-of-the-century Yiddish socialist worker songs and Kurt Weill-esque torch songs.
