Born and raised in Reading, Pa. Bruce Torres is a singer/songwriter with alot of heart. His sound blends the feel of such artists as Lenny Kravitz, John Mayer and Prince to name a few. Though his lyrics are what make his songs interesting, his powerful and versatile singing is what draws the most attention. From the popular Philly tune "Citygirl" to the heartbreaking "Jilted" to the heavy dance feel of "Tied" and "Better Than Waiting," Bruce runs the gammit of musical genres and keeps his audiences tuned in to the very last song. "I want to move people...physically and emotionally. I want people to laugh while holding back tears.... I love to dance and to see people dance to my songs is one of the great joys in my life." Bruce's popularity grew rapidly as a solo performer and with this being one of the few times in his career with a full band behind him, including backing vocals by The Smyths, he's sure to give his loyal fans something new to enjoy.
Special Guests:
In 2004, The Adam Monaco Band was asked to open for the Bacon Brothers at Borgata Casino, where they received the only standing ovation of the evening. Their set was such a hit that less then two months later the Borgata asked them to come back to open for Blondie, which was an amazing honor and unbelievable night of music. Also played with David Berkeley, The Alarm, and Jill Sobule.
The Silence is a 3 piece alt-rock band from Philadelphia. Founded over 15 years ago, they have opened up for such diverse acts as Live, G. Love, Spacehog, Collective Soul, The Samples, The Ocean Blue and The Connells. They have just released their fifth independently produced CD, entitled "Find Your Way Home", garnering them radio play from Philadelphia radio station 88.5 WXPN. Their live performances, both energetic and musically intense, demonstrate how three musicians sound like more than the sum of their parts.
The Smyths are an acoustic rock band fronted by two sisters from Bucks County, blending near-identical voices into compelling harmonies. Together these former World Café Live Philly Rising Open Stage Night winners write songs of love-gone-wrong, friendships, and life in general, with a humorous edge to everything they do. In the three years they have been playing around Philadelphia, people come to see the entertaining stage presence of lead singer, Meghan, and rhythm guitarist, Maureen. Despite obvious comparisons to the Indigo Girls, the Smyths prefer to be classified as a more rocking version of women’s acoustic music, breaking out of the folk bindings.
