Philly Rising is World Cafe Live's weekly Open Stage and progressive Talent Competition, hosted by Boy Wonder (a.k.a. Andre Coles) at Upstairs Live every Monday. Each week, the evening's standout performer is chosen by a panel that includes Boy Wonder, the WCL staff on duty, and a representative from our sponsors. Each week's top performer is invited back on the following month, when the four weekly winners have a chance to perform a full set at Cream: The Best of Philly Rising!
At each of these Cream shows, the panel of judges selects a single winner.
At the end of the year, all monthly winners compete in the annual Cream of the Cream showcase on the main stage in Downstairs Live, and one winner will receive a package of prizes. We will also publicize the Cream awards, invite broadcast and print coverage, and solicit the participation of a media outlet as event sponsor.
